Salt Lake City, Utah (March 28, 2013) Today, the United Natural Products Alliance (UNPA) recognized 4Life Research™ as its newest member.
The UNPA, an association of dietary supplement and functional food companies, share a commitment to provide consumers with natural health products of superior quality and benefit.
Originally, the UNPA was formed to promote positive legislation that safeguards the dietary supplement industry from unfair practices. Leading the alliance, UNPA’s Executive Director Loren D. Israelsen worked in close cooperation with the Office of Senator Orrin Hatch (R—Utah) and Congressman Bill Richardson (D—New Mexico) as they introduced the Health Freedom Act of 1992. Ultimately, with the sponsorship of Senator Hatch and Senator Harkin (D—Iowa), that bill became the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 (DSHEA).
Today, the UNPA’s core mission is to ensure the accurate implementation and enforcement of DSHEA. With the direction of Israelsen and his team, the Alliance focuses on a myriad of laws and regulations surrounding DSHEA: GMP regulation, adverse event reporting, analytical method development, steroid controls, and international quality management protocols.
Membership in the UNPA is limited to 50 full members and 10 analytical labs. To date, the UNPA has grown to include companies throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
Loren D. Israelsen: “As a world leader in the direct selling of natural products, it’s an honor for me to recognize 4Life Research as our newest member. I look forward to collaborating with 4Life executives as we embark on a strategy to ensure the ongoing representation, promotion, and protection of our natural supplement businesses.”
