4Life Chief Scientific Officer Chris Lockwood, PhD, CSCS, introduced Yunpeng (Roc) Wu as 4Life’s newest Food Scientist.
Wu comes to 4Life with a Masters Degree in Chemistry from Tongji University in Shanghai, China, and a Masters of Food Science and Nutrition from the University of Maryland.
Among Wu’s responsibilities will be to manage the Research & Development applications lab, qualify and validate existing laboratory instruments, create and update laboratory database and inventory, develop and implement product optimization plans, and create patent-applicable process methods.
Wu’s academic experience includes research about the synthesis of nano materials, nano-particle encapsulation, the extraction of active ingredients from Chinese herbs, and the study of surfactants—substances that reduce surface tension of liquids during the process of dissolving. His research publications, which include the areas of antioxidants and cross-contamination, have appeared in the International Journal of Food Microbiology and Food Science & Technology.
Chris Lockwood: “Our Research & Development team is excited about the contribution Roc will make to ensuring that we remain among the world leaders of transfer factor research and supplement manufacturing. Roc has a great deal of professional and academic experience that will undoubtedly serve to empower distributors with scientific credibility.”
Wu moved to the state of Utah in January to accept his new position at 4Life. His extended family resides in China.
